  • On the nose the usual suspects of honey, apricots, vanillin and pineapple juice, counterpointed with some less regular notes of bananas and even some unorthodox hints of pumpkin jam. On the palate the wine is a burst of aromas, offering dried apricots, honey, some citrus, a touch of green, herbal bitterness and some GV white pepper. As one would expect for an Auslese; no hints of botrytis, only pure, overripe fruit aromas. The wine tastes like something a flowering meadow would taste like - of course seasoned with some white pepper.

In the aftertaste, the peppery aromas intensify with very noticeable minerality. Nice acidity, but somehow the mouthfeel is oily, viscous and a little bit sticky with 120 g/l of RS; thus I'd like a tad more acidity to freshen the palate. Somehow the wine seems a little bit awkward and painfully young; maybe some age will fix that. But despite its shortfalls, this Auslese is very nice, quite balanced and above all, nicely original. Definitely excellent QPR at 10,98€ a .375 bottle.

  • Apricots, pumpkin (nicely picked by kuumies), almonds, vanilla and honeyed florals.
Sweet and full palate with balanced acidity and some greenish bitter qualities. A bit tighter mid-palate with honey and buckthorns and a slightly toasted greenish, almondy finish.
A bargain, though the wine seemed a bit disjointed. Time will tell. EDIT: Seemingly more balanced on days 2 and 3, when the aforementioned green bitterness has disappeared. Definitely should buy some bottles to cellar.

  • Popped and enjoyed over three days. Initially I thought this smelled a lot like pumpkin and tasted a little alcoholic and disjointed. On day three a nice clean, floral nose of apricot and honey. On the palate there is apricot and pineapple. Adequate acidity. Quite a refreshing little sweetie that has a delightfully light finish (once it has opened up). Clearly at its best on day three. For 11 € I don't mind sipping this while enjoying some cheese.
