Smooth, rich, and fruity. We were afraid we had waited too long to drink this one. Evidently, good grapes and great winemakers had or backs. It was wonderful. Cheers!

Lots of Amador Zin flavor, black fruit with some spice, but too soft on the finish for me. Very enjoyable, like the more complex old vine Zins from Deaver better though.

Decanted 90 mins. ahead. Dark garnet color, not quite inky. Nice nose of vanilla, spices, cassis, blackberries. Full-bodied but soft on the palate; low acidity leads me to think of Lodi-style Zin with the added bonus of a hint of depth in the flavors. Finishes softly with faint iron shavings over almost-zero tannins. The spicy-earthy nose is the best thing about this wine, betraying its old-vine provenance. And yes, it's zinfandel alright, with plenty of varietal character. But the acid balance holds against it. It's not likely to improve much with time, but it's nice now.
