Pale clear yellow. Pleasant pear, apple, honeysuckle nose. Not too heavy, but plenty of backbone-will not be mistaken for something other than California chardonnay. Medium long finish. Nice value.

(La Follette Chardonnay Sangiacomo Vineyard) Light yellow color; appealing, ripe pear, poached pear, white flower nose; ripe pear, white flower, poached pear palate; medium-plus finish (14.2% alcohol, 10 mos sur lie in French oak)
(La Follette Chardonnay Sangiacomo Vineyard, Sonoma Coast) Cold, foggy coastal air funneled directly through the Petaluma Gap to this cobbled old riverbed site at the base of Sonoma Mountain has consistently promoted the nutrient-starved, wild-yeast fermentation favored by La Follette. The resulting flavors and aromas display as much minerality and toasted almond as intense apple, pineapple, and lemon fruit, slapping a viscous layer over snappy, sinewy, high-acid texturing. The profile is unmistakably Californian, but with an Old World raunch. Winery Spotlight: La Follette Wines

Very light nose. Medium bodied. Butter and vanilla but not much else. Fruit not apparent and acidity low. Pleasant but not much to remember.
