Retail $40. It has been a hot minute since I have cracked a bottle of this wine and it seems as though the extra time has paid off. I bought eight bottles of this wine way back in 2104 from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board for a scant $18 and the first few bottles were, well, less than stellar. A bit funky on the palate, but there is some fruit, spice, and just a bit of heat. The palate has a decided mocha note with ample fruit and a really nice balance. I think I have pulled a 180. Very nice.
Panther Creek used to be one of the wineries that gave Washington Pinot Noirs a superb reputation, with the Freedom Hill Vineyard being one of their outstanding wines. I bought 8 bottles of this hoping that track record would continue, but alas, two changes in ownership failed to sustain that achievement. No longer liking the wine and regretting buying it, I gave it one final chance - let it age in the cellar to see if the change would be positive. At 10 years old, this is the first wine I pulled. While not great, it is enjoyable and better, with drying and well integrated tannin, refreshing acidity, both red and black cherry fruit, finishing long and well, with nothing flawed, thin, bland, or tired.

Darker than your typical Oregon pinot. Nose unmistakably pinot. Taste closer to California or some other new world country than Willamette, but still great. Would drink up now.

Funky nose at the start, but that did blow off. Pleasant fruit, a bit of dark cherry mixed with a bit of chocolate and earth.
