Still inky purple in color, with no real sign of age other than a hefty amount of sediment in the bottle. Nose is simple and straightforward, befitting a rustic country wine. On the palate, fruit forward, with soft tannins and a nice silky texture. It's Malbec, so complexity just doesn't live here, but it's a simple, satisfying wine that isn't trying to be more than it is.

(Mas del Périé Les Escures) 100% Malbec. The ’08, from an organically grown vineyard, has a deep ruby color that could easily be taken for black. Intense black fruit on the nose transitions to a powerful, gritty mouthfeel with hints of blackberry, chocolate, and black pepper. Appellation: Cahors
