"A special cuvee of 2005, a very ripe vintage, from mostly schist soils, this great Muscadet spent 42 months on the lees and shows a quite full palate and exotic fruit aromas. While richer than most Muscadet, with even perhaps a hint of residual sugar, this wine is balanced by a pronounced mineral character and good acidity. Try it now with chicken or a full-flavored fish dish, or keep for ten years.

    Bottle 1:
Wootchie tootche little poochie! This is a mensch of a wine!
    C: Pale straw.
N: Not much at first, but after about 1 hr fairly strong.
P: Just wonderfully rounded, balanced, acid and white fruit, drinks like an absolute dream. White Burgundy of this quality would be $80 - $100 IMO.
    2nd bottle:
A great disappointment. Seemed completely flat, even after 2 hr decant. Bad bottle? Shut down?
    3rd (and sadly last) bottle:
    C: Pale clear yellow
    N: Yellow fruits
P: Soft, long, mellow and a bit creamy. On opening, a bit flabby, but gains crispness after 30 min. or so. Wonderfully balanced and compelling. Great QPR

  • like licking lemon-infused pebbles. As expected, good cut from vibrant acidity. medium plus finish.

  • This bottle did not show the energy, oiliness and interesting texture of previous bottles. Not flawed in any apparent way. Much the same on day two

  • Unusually rich and full bodied for a Muscadet. Chablis-like.

  • Golden straw color, surprisingly deep color for Muscadet. Classic nose of oyster shell coupled with toasted pine nuts, lemon and a touch of grassiness. Palate is very round and leesy, with honeyed lemon, apple and mineral notes coming through. Long, full, almost salty finish. Anyone who has tried to refute the notion of minerality in wine is sure to have their mind changed after a glass of this.
