Aeolian Sailing Trip & a bit of Etna; 8/22/2014-8/31/2014 (Eolian Islands): Quite an interesting wine, 11.5% alc and although it give a sweetish start it evolves into a waxy , light mineral side. Very specific wine. Quite a bit of ripe fruit, round and feels like it needs to be drunk sooner than later. 89

Interesting for the novelty. Had with parents when they visited earlier in the month. Acidity was a little out of control. Flavor profile was all lemon to the detriment of other flavors. Will stick with the sweet wines with this grape.

The nose was rich with great depth, showing ripe peach and spicy floral tones that were offset by hints of lemon and wet, stony minerals. On the palate, an immediate inner floral note, like crushed flower petals, covered the senses with a velvety texture that quickly turned refreshing and bright. The finish was refreshing, yet a bit short, with bitter citrus and minerals tones.

Ordered off the list at Esca in NYC. Pale straw color. Awesome nose of blue stone, limestone, white flowers, lemon zest and citrus oil. Similar flavors on the palate with the citrus and minerality really coming through along with a touch of herbaceousness. Medium+ to high acidity with a clean, crisp mouthfeel and finish. Very balanced and light on the palate and very versatile with food. I need to locate some of this wine.
