NY/NJ Offline at Beacon 7.23.12 (Beacon, NYC): Black cherry with a ton of pyrazine and noticeable toasted oak on the nose. Medium tannin with medium high acidity and a medium long finish, but a little awkward overall right now.

Leather, graphite and dusty plums on the nose. Still quite young and austere on the palate - really a ringer for a 10 year old bordeaux on the palate, with leather, cedar and still very prominent tannins. I don't know if it has enough fruit to really turn into anything fantastic, but should improve with age.

Served with grilled, Pittsburg-burned steak, corn and peas. Clear rusty red in color; green forest leaves, metal shop shavings, wood, some dark fruit, pepper and hints of grain alcohol on the nose. Drinking nicely after 1-2 hours in a decanter...balanced but alcohol takes over at the end....which probably keeps this from crossing over into the 90+ range.

The cab franc in this just is not happening for me. Dry, lean on the fruit, perhaps more austere than I am inclined towards.

Leather and almost a cranberry nose, still quite hot, a little bit over the hill I think. Not bad, would have been better a year or two ago...
