Dinner at Summer Pavilion (Summer Pavilion, Ritz Carlton, Singapore): Pretty good - this was very youthful and still sweet for a Spatlese of its age. It had a nice nose, with some tertiary earthiness, but mostly still apricots and red apples, some honeyed pears, and then a sweet lilt of nectar. Attractive. The palate was even better I thought. Lots of lemony acidity lent the wine a lovely sense of balance to youthful notes of apples shading into more tropical territory - think pineapples, maybe green mangoes - before the wine resolved into a nice mineral finish. Very pleasant, with a nice fruity Rheingau character, and still really youthful too. This will continue to hold nicely over the medium to longterm.

Dinner by Patrick Kimpel * with "Versteigerungsspitzen & Schatzkammerweine" (Rheingau Gourmet & Wein Festival, Kloster Eberbach): Lovely acidity, characteristic spiciness, seems completely ready, deeper and riper than the 2001.
