Fruit forward with dark cherry and blackberry but balanced and not over the top. What I expected from a LWC Pinot. Day 2 got a little more mushroom and earthiness.

Choosing a wine with soups is not an easy task. I chose this one (along side of a California Viognier and a Sojourn PN) to accompany a mildly spicy shrimp gumbo for a supper open house on the day after the Winter Solstice. I opened and served this bottle directly out of the cellar. I didn't have time to make tasting notes but can report that it continues to drink well and that it was well received by our guests.

Didn't decant. (Later discovered light sediment.) Ruby Red. Bright cherry nose. Intense jammy fruit on the palate, but balanced by lively acids. Long finish with fine tannins emerging. Better with food. Day two: about the same.

Like others I found this very big and extracted, and maybe a little stewed - however, this was delicious and had enough juicy black cherry acidity and soft tannins to be pretty well balanced. There is a lot packed in here, both flavor and alcohol, but it manages to pull it off. Reminds me of a Sea Smoke Southing - but with more balance. Very nice Pinot.

Beautiful Pinot. Cherry Cola, very light earthiness. Light bodied overall.
