Great zin. Wide variety of fruit notes, only a hint of jam. Best decanted. Blackberry, ripe black cherry, some cranberry dryness. White pepper, and a nuance of mint.

An hour or two of decanting goes along way with this one. Not your typical Zin - much more earthy and robust, great spice, minimal vanilla, restrained jam, full fruit, light finish. Will appeal to everyone, especially the non-zin drinkers.
Overall a welcomed and refreshing change from my normal Zin-o-holic menu. Time to buy a case.

This is a big, powerful, excellent zin. When you first see and smell it, you think they may have overdone it. It is terribly dark. The nose is sweet black fruit. When it hits the palate, there is a refined softness that defies the color and nose. Behind the bigness is just enough structure to break the 90 point glass ceiling. I like the way the blackberry, boysenberry, black cherry, and blueberry fruit attacks the palate in an almost out of control heaviness that diminishes through the palate. We have some small tannins in the background. More acid than a zin this big would typically exhibit. Very harmonious. I think the 10% Syrah, and 4% Petit Sirah balance out the overt ripeness of the zin. Has a seriously long, sweet, but acceptable finish.
