Hints of brick orange around the edges of the wine. I feel we're about at the peak aging wise. Aromas of damp vegetal, forest; and ground black pepper. Strong grape (fruit not wine) flavors, and earthy leather. Almost no tannins left, still a nice acidity, medium-long finish.

No, no and no again. Seriously: what were they thinking when they bottled this? This almost seems faulty at points and if it would not have been for the notes of the other tasters here, I would have blamed my specific bottle. First of all: this has nearly no Syrah characteristics, it actually feels more like a cheap Pinot Noir gone wrong. The nose is an aggressive and awkward mix of burnt rubber and unripe raspberries alongside some greenness and almost root beer-like artificial vanilla. On the palate the wine is (despite its high alcohol content) rather watery and thin while being downright sour and showcasing more of the unripe red fruit notes. As someone already pointed out: this is borderline drinkable as it has an almost aggressive character. Boekenhoutskloof has quite a lot of nerve to put out such a disjointed effort with a price tag of 10 EUR. Avoid at all cost...

Decent wine for the price. Still good, despite of the age

Disagree with previous notes. I agree this is not typically Syrah - but excellent wine though for the price.
Went well with a tapas disc - spanish sausage and cheese
