  • Pale straw in color with green highlights, bright, clear, and sparkling; dry, medium light-bodied with fresh acidity. Offers lively bright lemony fruit and a surprising level of tastiness along with a subtle mineral note. Long, clean finish. Lively and refreshing. Much better than the price would indicate. Very good option for when you need a basic cheap bubbly good enough to drink straight and cheap enough so that I don’t mind adding orange juice for a Mimosa or violet liqueur for a Kir Violette. A sparkling wine that has to be widely and readily available. Alan Christopher fills that niche. And it is perfect for when you have to provide bubbles for a lot of people while keeping a budget in mind.

  • I suspect this is a " private label" house brand for Spec's Liquor out of Houston. This concoction was widely available at it's store throughout Texas in late 2010. Simply put this is absolute swill and insipid! It is thin and very light with little body and not much flavor! Made using the Charmat Process the wine exhibits very little in the way of a nose, maybe some faint hints of toast! What remaining bottles I have will be relegated to using for Mimosas or for those visitors that have no appreciation for fine sparkling wine; not even a bargain at $8!
