  • Had over 2 days. The wine has an orange rim, and darker deep red color in the center. On the nose smells like solvent, aromas typically induced by wood, like some vanilla and burnt sugar or chocolate. With time, the following day some pleasant balsamic notes disturbed by the smell of burnt wood, almost ashtray. On the palate the first day not much tertiary notes, except wood, lots of woods. The wine is almost overwhelmed by it, even the yet conspicuous acidity does not show with the unpleasant heavy winemaking hand. Tannins are grippy but not fine, they feel quite sandy, chubby, again not sure how much the barrel or the original juice. This is very strange. The cellar declares that serraboella is aged only in large casks. I wonder what they actually do, maybe they ferment in new barriques? Anyhow I do not want to think of what could Bordini bottling from this producer be, since they say that it ages only in barriques... On the second day a lot of balsamic and soy sauce notes show up, making the wine a bit more interesting. The wine is never floral, never fruity. It lacks any refinement or interesting features. Pretty monodimensional. This said, it is vaguely perceived that the fruit was good, probably spoiled by the hand of the wine maker. IF you have it, sell it or hold on for some more years. It is not in a good drinking window right now.
