Lots or "pinot funk" on the nose with mushrooms and forest floor aromas. On the palate it has boysenberry, cardamom, and black pepper. Tannins are subdued. Silky, full mouthfeel. Medium finish.

From the winery's tasting sheet: "First planted in 1997, this graveled site grows Pinot Noir for some of the state's preeminent producers. Of all of our 2009 Pinots, this is perhaps the most extroverted. It is dark, exotic, and ripe with measures of strawberries, raspberries and blackberries. The palate is dense, creamy and lush with a broad swath of minerals. This bold, ripe memorable Pinot Noir shows beautifully now and should continue to improve for years to come."
