  Luca Ferraris Wine Social at L'Uva: First wine tasted at the L'Uva Italian Wine Social featuring Luca Ferraris Wines, presented by Chiare Ferraris, wife of Luca. Retails in the $18 range. Light in color; nose & palate of fresh cherries and strawberry preserves with hints of earth and spice. The palate has more tannins than you expect, which actually allows it to pair with cheeses or richer "starting" fare such as creamy polenta. Definite food wine. I have only ever had a few Grignolino in my time as it doesn't often make it to the states, but I thought this was the best example I have had so far. A-
