  • Christmas eve with Friends. Wine was excellent and enjoyed by all.
showed very well against the 1995 Cab reserve we also opened.
    Decanted for 6 hours
    Magnum
smooth and silky with no signs of age

The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like light toast. It tastes like medium toast and espresso. The body is medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

  • This wine is 70% merlot, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petit Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc. It is from Santa Ynez Valley in the more southern wine region of California. This has a nice decade on it. Aromas of plum, stewed cherries, clay pot, cedar and some earthiness. After about an hour decant the earthiness fades and the fruit comes out more. It’s showing a little haze and likely should be drunk sooner than later. Palate carries cherry and plum as well leather. Medium body, soft well integrated tannin's and a lengthy finish.

  • popped and poured
    Very dark purple.
    Real power on nose
Heat, earth, raspberry liquor, tobacco, a distinct heaviness on the nose. Flavors lots of alcohol, hints of raspberry, and strawberry, but muted by the alcohol. Also some tobacco and cedar. Might need time to settle down.
