Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 90 points

  • Stone fruits, apples, nuts, straw are framed by mineral tones. A nicely packaged wine, lacking some zing and depth.

  • Of note, WS gave this 85, Tanzer 89, Parker 92-95, quite a range, but my bottle is quite excellent and the notes WS gave it are one of those "what the?" "why do I subscribe to this rag?" "did they drink a cooked bottle and not think about it?" sorts of things. The wine is not hot, not at all, "survey says!" BZZZZZZ on WS. Stones, minerals, flowers, moderately lengthy, polished, delicious, even if the nose is subdued and the fruit behind the scenes, coming more on the back end than up front. Wine doesn't have to taste like a million other fruits to have some depth. Not awe-inspiring, but in line/slightly below the curve with the few other 1er cru Puligny wines I've tasted (from what read to be much better vintages than 03). This is not the first time I've found Mr. Tanzer to be precise, useful, and, shall we say, _sober_ in his assessment in a head to head with the other honchos.
