  • As usual with Blackstone, though not overwhelming and awe inspiring, this wine is quite competent, varietally correct, and tasty. There even seems to be more than usual depth and structure, and less sugary appeal than one would expect at this price point. l suspect the 2009 vintage was friendly for zinfandel. There is a lot of purple color. The nose is concentrated, very Cabernet in style with plenty of non fruit accenting aromas. For a zin, this is quite heavy in the mouth. Not as one dimensional fruity as we expect. Surprising integration of acid, tannins, oak and alcohol. Balanced, smooth finish with tiny tannins, blackberry fruit and just the right amount of palate cleansing acidity. This wine really over delivers for the price.
