(FOGGO Old-B Vine Grenache) Foggo Dear Friends, This is a relatively new, hot winery from the McLaren Vale and they firmly believe they are Australia’s greatest boutique operation (their words, not mine) - boastful, but the first round of wines I tasted have quite a bit of promise and their vineyard material is among the oldest in the world across varietals. With nearly all of their estate grapes (even the Cabernet) from 50-100 year old stock, this is a winery to watch very closely...and the prices are refreshing to say the least. From the winery: “...his vineyards speak for themselves: Our wines show superiority of vineyard site. They emerge from their own estate vineyards in McLaren Vale from some of the region's oldest plantings. The Old Vine Shiraz is sourced exclusively from vines more than 85 years old. The Grenache is also sourced from 85 year old dry grown bush vines. The Cinsault Rose is also sourced from 45 year old dry grown vines and is used exclusively for this product. The cabernet is sourced from 50 yr old vines.” There’s not much to say with this offer - an old-vine Grenache of this ilk for this price pretty much speaks for itself but the most important fact to most of you is that this wine is rumored to be the Grenache component that used to make-up the Noon Eclipse before they decided to keep it for themselves - a small fact that will probably cause a few brows to perk up among the populous (especially because the Noon Eclipse is $50-60?). Take advantage before they realize even $30 would still be reasonable for this: If nothing else, the wine is worth the curiosity alone and it would be interesting to try the 2003 Noon Eclipse next to this. To learn more about what they are up to: http://www.foggowines.com.au/ ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price with perfect provenance 2003 Old Bush-Vine Grenache (85yr old vines) FIRST COME FIRST SERVED up to 6/person until we run out Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Aus5570
