Allegedly made from a grape I've never heard of, Grand Noir. Nice nose of brown spirit and red fruit, with hints of cocoa and coconut. Palate shows a nice combination of powerful spirit (bourbon), mild spice (cocoa, coffee, cinnamon), and a touch of sweet fruit (musk, raisin, red cherry cordial). Superbly balanced and drinking beautifully.

NobleRottersSydney - NSW Central Ranges (Alio's, Surry Hills): [cork, 18%] {Stephen} The nose is part paint-pot, part nail varnish; does offer some macerated cherry/jammy fruit along with the brandy. The palate is off-dry-ish, medium-bodied, and really powered by that acid/alcohol of the spirit, which gives it a real sharpness rather than freshness. You’re left with the impression of alcohol rather than sweetness. Medium length, hot finish. I can never judge these local styles of ‘vintage port’; they always seem like they should be drunk either ten years ago, or in ten years time…
