BYO Blind Tasting: Blind. Moderate maturity, deep mix of dark berries (blackberries and blackthorn) and gun powder/minerals; (served a bit too warm), smooth, and moderate minus tannins, good acidity, grippy finish, moderate alcohol, more sweetness after a while. Good QPR

Here are my notes for the '08: "Extremely nice Pinot from Fred Scherrer. Well balanced with nice acidity, dark cherry, rhubarb, some white pepper and a very nice long finish."
The '09 is more bright red fruit, less spice and a touch more acidity but still the whole package is in sync with all parts in perfect balance.

Chicago Pinot Days (Navy Pier - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Ripe red and black cherry aromas and flavors start-to-finish, with good balance, particularly for its 14.5% alcohol. I was told this is declassified RRV fruit. Simple but prob a very good value wine in the more elegant style of Pinot Noir.

Not as complex as some other Scherrer Pinots, but easy to enjoy at Trattoria di Meo.
