  From a bottle purchased at the winery upon release and cellared in pristine fashion, this wine was decanted off of its sediment and serially tasted over the ensuing 3-4 hours. Fully opening after 90 minutes in decanter, it proved itself to be a delicious red that is aging at a glacial pace. Still a youthful opaque crimson in color, this blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot flaunts an intensely floral bouquet that is buttressed with aromas of ripe plums, black currants, baking spices, cedar and licorice. Full-bodied, freshly acidic, judiciously oaked and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 15.0%), it delivers flavors in line with the aromas, adding hints of sage and black pepper. Shored with plentiful silky-textured tannins that are pervasive on the solid mid-palate and lengthy finish, this showcases the hedonistic fruit of the Alexander Valley and supports it with significant structure. Well-cellared bottles will last longer than previously projected. Drink now-2030.

  Nice match with short ribs. Medium purple color, moderate sedimentation. Plum and currant with a medium finish. Retained freshness over 90 minutes until the last drop.

  This was a perfect match for the steaks we grilled on this beautiful spring day. This vintage was ready to drink and was smooth and elegant. We visited the Hall winery back in 2013 and found it to be a beautiful place. The wine is also.
