  • This was a second bottle of a case which my son Seth already reviewed. This is a profound expression of what Reisling can do. Deep yellow with obvious viscosity. Initially a petrol note followed by peach and melon in the nose. As the wine opened up after an hour the fruit took over. In the mouth there was a perfect balance of minerality to offset the residual sugar. The finish just extended and amplified the experience. I just can't thank the Family Busch enough for making such beautiful wines.

  • Consistent with previous note. This took some time to open up after popped, but when it came together, it was great. Wonderful peaches and spice, good minerality, definitely a bit of botrytis in there, some lemon. The palate is excellent as well - with the peach, spice and minerals, and a lot of that 10 acid - just a kiss of RS so that it rounds out a bit. The middle shows more and more lemon or lemon lime, which go right into the finish - long, rich, zingy, spicy. 10 was a hard year to make good wines with little RS, and Clemens Busch did a superb job - a testament to excellent winemaking. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17.5/20.

  • Yellow-gold. The 2010 Clemens-Busch wines are not for the faint of heart. This is very potent with beautiful peach, a concentrated saline brothiness, and a slate minerality on the nose. It's pretty huge with solid ripeness, but it also is pretty racy and driven. The palate is explosive and golden - ripe peach, saline extract and broth, good minerality. Verges on heavy, but pulls it off well, as we go into the finish we get some tart acid lemon notes blending nicely with the peach, and the minerality shows as well. Really excellent showing. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5-5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17.5-18/20.

  • Rieslingfeier (New York): Compared to the Falkenlay, this had much more of a fruity-tropical profile than a mineral one. Fairly pronounced nose, rich body. Good.
[I missed if there was any further designation on the bottle.]
