Just starting to hit its straps. Has all the ingredients for a good 1er cru but still needs 5 years. Full of ripe fruit but balancing tannins and minerality. 2011 is turning out to be a lot better than the pundits predicted. Similar to 1997 and 2000 both underrated vintages but what delightful drinking. Unfortunately all consumed!!! 1996,1999,2002 and 2005 still not ready. We need the lighter vintages from ? lesser years to keep us imbibing Burg and the vignerons in business. End of minor rant.
This is elevé by Albert Bichot. It's a perfectly made wine, nothing is out of place or OTT, but the fruit lacks a ripe core of sweetness. Nicer on the nose than the palate. This I think is simply the vintage, in other words, a really professional fine effort but ultimately its 2011 a year of drizzle on and on.
13.5% ABV, sealed with cork.

Chassin Tasting Group (Joostenburg): (Tasted Blind): Mid+ ruby with expressive notes of ripe pastille cherry and cherry stone aromas. The palate has plenty of spicy oak and is mid to full-bodied but lacks a bit of mid-palate. A red cherry skin texture with bing cherry and Victoria plum flavours, but despite the ripe flesh, the wine has a leaner edge with its lively+ acidity lacking some depth (also lacks concentration) but plenty of approachable fruit and ripeness. Quite perfumed, the tannins are grippy, but overall is an easy-drinking Burgundy.

This is a very good Burgundy. Well balanced with the typical red fruit and a nice acidity, that begs you to take another sip.
