  • Opened this at Tasty Loong (Link Hotel) to celebrate my MIL's birthday.

Got this as a gift from one of my business partners during my business trip to China. Was told that this is a premium wine from Shandong, one of the more renowned wine making regions in China.

Dark purple in colour. Wild violets and red currants on the nose and palate. Tannins are well resolved at this stage, giving it a smooth and delicate profile. The attack is vibrant, then subdues to a tame and gentle creature. Was surprised at the level of complexity this wine displayed. Some capsicum, wet rocks and tar notes were evident.

Made by one of the 3 main producers of red wine in China (the winemaker is Chang Yu, the other 2 are Great Wall and Dynasty), this wine is neither mass made or commercialised. It is in fact quite enjoyable.

One of the better wines from China I've tried. Worthy of the packaging and box that came with the wine. All things considered, this is not a bad wine.
