At last, this is starting to come through as a contender for Grand Cru status. My bottles of 2006 and 2008 were rather disappointing: Four square and uncharming. I tasted 2008 young, and was impressed with the depth and persistence of the fruit, but it failed to develop this potential. Perhaps the wine making was a bit too rough with the extraction? I don't know. This, however, is now showing a lot of promise. Quite dark for it's kind. The nose is quite intense with a dominance of sour cherry. In the mouth firm yet fruity, building up to a long aftertaste. From time to time there are flashes of a more tender and elegant wine underneath this, with a floral and raspberry character that could be mistaken for Chambolle. Is this the direction of travel for this wine? We shall see.

Purchased from Last Bottle. Darkest Burgundy I have ever come across, with strong oak notes. Tasted blind with several other Burgundy wines, and this stuck out like a sore thumb. Most thought it was a California ringer. Seems unlikely to resolve, but if you like this style of wine, drink up.

Ruby coloured, and on the nose there's a domination from the oriental spices. There's some furniture polish as well, while the raspberry fruit is evident only as a flash towards the very end of the curve and before the aftertaste. The aftertaste is moderate in length. One of the points to deduct here. It is also a bit deficient in the fruit and body department while it is elegant. Some time and temperature mitigates these losses somewhat, but the over all verdict is that it is on the disappointing side. Some say that 2010 has developed very fast, and that some wines are very tired by this stage. I fear this may be the case with this wine, but I've seen so much weird stuff go on with burgundies that I want to reserve my judgement.

Svært lett, som luft, snev av diskret frukt, noe syre, nok tanniner. Svært diskret og delikat, men nesten uten uttrykk. Ren. slank. Meget tilfredsstillende.

Bel exemple de Nuits St Georges. Joliment balancé. Parfait équilibre. Net et précis. À point. Très élégant.
