Decanted one hour. The nose is rich and beautiful with berries, leather, and dust. On the palate, rich and savory with dried red berries, leaves, strong acid and tannins, medium finish. Although the cork was streaked along one side there weren't obvious signs of heat damage as others have reported. This was delicious.

Maison Ilan @ Medlar: Dense ruby with a touch of garnet. Quite ponky reductive initially. Rich, sweet-fruited, a touch of caramel. Relatively light and dare I say it, charming in the general context. Attractive. ***1/2

This just isn’t very good. I can’t put my finger on it, but it has a strong metallic flavor, and a weird smokiness on the palate. There’s fruit, and good acidity, but it’s not balanced, and the flavor is just harsh. Given the cost, this just blows.

Rotating Dinner Series-Wines Jimmy Likes (Acadia, Chicago IL): Nose: This is very well balanced with dark red fruits, leather, dark red berries, earth notes, and spices. There is a darker take to the tones with an introspective quality as well.
Taste: Medium/full bodied with medium/high acidity and silky tannins. The structure is certainly there with dark red fruits, dark red cherries, leather tones, earth, and spices.
Overall: While the Chambertin had a more subtle power to it, this had some real density. This is a tremendous Charmes and can grow, but naturally the Chambertin has a much higher ceiling.

Short metallic finish. Very little fruit on the palate. Fortunately that was my last bottle.
