Good qpr, though its sliding from how good it was on release. No oak so I doubt this should be kept in hopes of it reopening after a cellar nap. sub $10 Merlot heavy RB just isn't worth it, but glad I bought the case.

closer to fruit punch than wine. Ok, this is not the worst Bordeaux I have ever had, in fairness the mid-pallete is quite drinkable, not rough at all and has notes of bright red cherry (surprising for a Bordeaux), but this a very thin wine especially given the focus on Merlot and Cab, with no finish and nothing on the front end. I hate to say this, but even for $10 I would rather drink a basic cab, syrah, or malbec. This is a house offering/cafe wine, which would taste more interesting with food, but you need to ask yourself if this is worth the calories.
Here is what the retailer had on their website about this wine:n The wine is the 2009 Chateau Couat from the “Right Bank” or east side of the Gironde river close to St Emilion. The primary grape variety here is Merlot. Jon Visser, Wine Buyer 3 1/2 stars: A blend of 66% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 11% Cabernet Franc. It’s nice to see a Bordeaux that is aged in tank as well as neutral oak barrels to allow for a fresher style instead of being over-oaked.

If this qpr is any indication of the great fruit of the '09 vintage then watch out. This wine is made of a right bank blend predominantly Merlot, but this is made and aged in stainless steel without any oak. This gives a somewhat singular profile of the fruit, yet the nose and palate are alive with blackberry, black currant, black raspberry with smoke and some baking spice. A minor amount of green pepper and vegetal nuance is barely noticeable, but present. silky tannins and a decent acid base it also in this bottle. I drank this dark purple juice over 3 days with no argon gas or refrigeration. i purposely did this to try and get an idea on how well this might age, and there was no let down over 3 full nights. Very impressive. I see no reason that people should settle for Mouton-Cadet when there are Bdx Bourgeois like this available.

Good value wine for the price. Everyday drinking wine. Not a lot of complexities
