  • So I bought a cellar; 11/12/2022-12/31/2030: I've never heard of this winery or this wine, so this is my first taste of this. I don't know how it tasted when released. But 16 years later, it seems like it is a decent effort, though not equivalent to a vintage port. I guess it is just late harvest, and not fortified.

It really tastes like a super over extracted pinot noir, plus some prune flavors. It's not bad, and better than another California "port" I had last week, but I'd still rather have the real thing. Fun to try, and decent.

Edit - on day 3, this has improved. Since it is not fortified (I don’t think), I was worried about oxidation, but it has improved. High alcohol, but a smoother finish.
