  • Very beautiful nose of rose and crushed strawberry.

Powdery mouthfeel, very textured with finesse. Surprising for a Barolo Riserva from a great vintage, it is so feminine. Complex juice with floral and strawberry aromas, it is very pleasant and tasty. However, I expected more depth, the finesse transforming into a lack of spring in the second part of the palate. There is a nice acidity but a slight lack of depth. The finish, however, revives the wine well, with beautiful notes of leather and good length.

    Very good, nice sapid Barolo.

  • Complex, beautiful and typical Nebbiolo nose of red cherries, strawberries, red roses, leather, truffles and coffee. Nice cool fruit. Textured with good acidity and bold tannins. Really clean and wonderful mouthfeel, and a long delicious finish. I was a little nervous prior to opening iom that my previous bottle 5 years ago showed a little angular and messy. In the 5 years that have passed since my previous bottle it has tightened up nicely, and it now appears more like the barolo it has been predicted to become. Tannins are still fierce, and for that reason it needs more time, but there is more than enough fruit to withstand this. My next bottle I think will be in apx 8-10 years. Very reassuring to taste this bottle.

  • Garnet with a hint of brick. Not really yielding much at the moment, suspect that bottle had not been opened long enough prior to tasting. Bright floral nose of strawberries, iron, licorice. Medium bodied, dense core, still fairly tightly wound, structured and serious.

  • Dinner at Le Torri, Castiglione Falletto: A touch of tar, musky dark berries, sottobosco and balsamico. With time the bouquet opened up showing some florals, with chocolate and vanillin oak. On palate, a rich 2004, showing Serralunga muscle. Some youthful tightness on palate but this is a classy wine. Precise acids. Spherical tannins. It paired well with the excellent rabbit dish and the seafood linguine. Very long. It'll be even better in 10 years. An outstanding young Barolo.

  • A truly great wine, still in the making.
Majestic Barolo, and from such a good vintage.
This is the “library release” from the winery, 10 years down the road, stored in their cellar for 10 years.
At 10+ years this has still a long way to go, but lovely already.
Deep nose with tar, truffles, fine dark red & black cherries, licorice, roses and violets, chocolate and some fine oak present.
    Very complex and fine, indeed.
Palate is powerful and deep, still young and very concentrated.
Fine ripe fruit, with cherries and raspberries, oak, oak tannins and some fine herbs present.
A very structured wine with a long finish.
Give this more time (another 10 years), and you will be greatly rewarded!
