The Yalumba "Y" series is a nice, reliable brand with every varietal in the series showing well - when you need a $10 wine to bring to a picnic, a "Y" can't be beat. This bottle wasn't complicated or profound, but had zesty acidity with nice lemon and stone accents that made it easy to sip.

{screwcap, 11.5%, A$9) Pale straw/lemon colour; youthful aromas of steely stones with a touch of turkish delight. Palate is quite dry, with soft acid; a slightly floury texture, and rather anonymous white flower flavours. Becomes stoney and flinty as you drink. Just a little drying textural finish on the mid-palate; there's not a lot by way of flavour on the finish, which is a pity, because the steely structure almost feels like it could support something really interesting.

Full bodied, with apricots, apples and a mineral streak.

Spouse picked this up to have a sitting on the pourch sipping wine. Very light, almost like water with a lemon in it. Not interesting in the least.

Fresh, vibrant, tasty if a bit innocuous. Well made for $9.99.
