  • This must be one of those white Burgundy experiences you read about. I thought I had picked a red DJP Beaune 1er Cru Les Champs Pimont until I opened it after the main dish as a contemplative red (yes, don't ask). It turned out to be the white one. And what a white it was. Medium golden, viscous with 13% abv. Aromas of almond, ripe apples, honey, coconut, pineapple, butter and an ever so slight hint of sherry. Dry, medium rich acidity, medium tannin, medium alcohol and full+ body.
What an experience, pineapple, cocos, baked apple, lemon pith, toast framed by a opulent texture. A richness and expanse and elegance I never experienced in a white wine before. An long, long finish where the richness, fresh acidity, and white peppers linger, linger, and linger. Words fail.
