  • fascinating bottle. debating the nose between cassis and .. gooseberry? floral but savory. reading the earlier comments, i can extend it and make it maybe towards olive or pickle but the group found it more intriguing and pleasant than off putting. palate balanced, cherry with some savory notes, nice bottle.

  • Not going to lie, the notes in here had me worried.

Pours dark garnet with extensive bricking on the edges. It looks old. Aroma is of cherries and earth. The palate is at first a bit shocking: It drinks like a 40 year old wine. Rust, coffee, cranberry, leather. Acid a bit on the low side. Not funky or flawed like described in some notes, though. With air, though, the fruit flavor appears and fills up into cherry and even a bit of ripe, sunkissed plum, as you would expect for a hot year. At first, tannins feel not present, but gradually build up into a nice, velvety texture.

Paired well with the usual turkey, sweet potato, green beans and the can-shaped cranberry sauce monolith.

Way better than I was anticipating. I had a second bottle on standby but it wasn’t required.
