Opened a well cellared and delicious 1985 Sokol Blosser Red Hills auction find last night. Was balanced and elegant with bright Oregon cherry and earth. Sokol Blosser was one of the upstart wineries that challenged Burgundy in a tasting. 1985 was hailed as Oregon’s first great vintage. Susan Sokol Blosser remembers the 85 Red Hills as “magnificent” in her biography. I agree. Nice to see a balanced OregonPinotNoir can be lovely in its thirties.
