Back in the Willamette; 2/15/2015-2/20/2015 (Willamette Valley): From the last release of this. Made from Syrah in the Walla Walla designation that runs into northern Oregon. After a bunch of very delicate Pinots it seemed a bit heavier. Interesting wine, but I don't think they were doing quite as much with the Syrah grape as they were with their Pinots.
- Violet color with slow forming legs and aromas of blackberry, butterscotch, walnut and vanilla. It's somewhat balanced and has flavours of black pepper, alcohol, tobacco and cedar with a light/medium body. Satin-Like texture with a short finish - 20 min decant. Eating with short ribs, and celery root mashed potatoes.
Silky smooth, no further cellaring needed.
Slightly off-balance, a tad acidic and a very short finish.
