  • This bottle continued the tradition of unevenness I have had with these bottles -- 6 over 5 years. This bottle was a bit sharp with some fruit peeking through. Almost tasted some effervescence (Where could that come from), but I think this was just a combination of flavors (no bubbles apparent). Overall, a little disappointing for a Verget, which is one of my favorite houses in Burgundy.

  • Given my previous experience with this wine, I am not certain what my last bottle will hold. At first, in 2010 it seemed to sharp, then it was very well-balanced, then back to acidic (vs rich and creamy as WA described it). This bottle was somewhere between the poles of my experience. The bottle was showing its age, which suggests to me that it is time to drink up. Sort of confusing to me -- maybe it is some type of bottle variation.

  • Crisp with sharp citrus, not much fruit. On day 2, a bit smoother, but still not my style. Decent wine if the style is your preference.

  • Different than the previous bottle I had last August -- not as round and full, more like the first bottle I had -- leaner and crisper. Still very enjoyable, but not so round and full. Might leave one around to see what happens.

  • Meaningfully better bottle (for me) than the last, which was two years ago. The wine seems to be "coming around" in the sense that it is smoother and more balanced. I suspect another year or so will see even more improvement. Color is still quite pale.

Wine Advocate suggested a drinking window ending at 2012. I think WA has early drinking windows on white Burgundy, and this is a good example of that.
