Perfect cork, easily removed, but I smelled TCA immediately. I tasted it and the taint was not horrible, but it was still there. So, I decided to see if I could fix it or improve the experience. Vigorous double decant and Vac-u-vin did not make much difference. I shook the bottle up and down with a clean stopper in place followed by Vac-u-vin and an hour rest each day before tasting for four days. But, four days later, I can still smell the flaw, it is not as bad, but still there. I can tell this is a quality Pinot Noir from good fruit; obviously, it can take a lot of abuse. Based on previous experiences with this wine, it can be wonderful and has a great ability to age. I have three more bottles in the cellar and will try more soon. I hope the remaining bottles are not corked.

In a pretty good spot, this wine is tasting good right now !! The cork was perfect after over a decade in the bottle. I consumed this balanced Pinot Noir over two days. A little tight at first displaying only the acidity, opened up after an hour and really shined the next day to a delightfully soft wine. Medium ruby color with little to no oxidation, clarity medium. Aromas of pomegranate and caramel. Flavors of cranberry, red cherry, rhubarb, and spice with a medium finish. Good fruit with firm acidity made into a reasonably balanced Pinot Noir from the Santa Rita Hill appellation of Santa Barbara County. This Pinot Noir is potentially age worthy and may have more years of life remaining. Fortunately, I still have four more bottles of this vintage remaining in my cellar to revisit in the next year or so. Great fruit and a great winemaking effort from Sashi Moorman.

Delicious, aromatic, juicy, spicy well-aged slightly effervescent Pinot that could be mistaken for a French noble wine. Although, I drank it with a cassoulet, which in tandem could have raised this wine’s profile. I wish I had another, there are still some years left, though it is drinking very nicely now.

Ugh! TCA. I can tell it is good, this bottle is just dreadfully flawed. I have five more of this vantage year to try later.
