Only a 2009 but it seems the tannins have already started to soften and perhaps it's lost a bit of the fruit characteristics I expect of a Syrah. Improving a bit as I let it open up. A decent wine, just not up to Martin Ranch's usual standards.

I don't seem to enjoy Syrah. This has lots of flavor, but I can't say of what. Pepper for sure. Maybe tobacco. I don't smoke. Coffee? Don't drink that either. I like fruity wines; this did not taste like fruit to me.
