Dark ruby color, almost full bodied, dark berry flavor with some chocolate overtones, not as soft as some Syrahs, it has some noticeable tannins. It was interesting to compare this wine to a 95 rated Syrah we drank two nights before. The difference is the richness of the fruit and the smoothness on the palate. Taking nothing away from this fine wine, the 95 rated wine (Pruett Taylor's Reserve) was better, but maybe not $40 per bottle better.

Chocolate and cherry notes. Interesting.
