ABV: 14.0%. This bottle is a perfect example of why I love aged dry Rieslings from New Zealand (and Australia). The beautiful nose exhibits complex layers of stone fruits (think apricot, peaches, nectarines, etc.), guava, white pepper, sweet ginger, beeswax, and stoney minerality. On the palate, this wine is drinking smoothly with well-integrated acidity that lifts the fruit profiles, carrying them on to a lengthy finish that leaves your palate salivating for more. This is drinking well now, but it'll be able to hold for at least another 5 years. If you're opening your bottle soon, perhaps decant it to wake it up a bit. Note: Pair excellent with Chinese dumplings.
