  • Gave a quick decent before eating with korean bbq

Wine was quite closed even after the decant. Had a dusty tannicness to it that I usually associate with Pomerol. (Although the fruit was clearly Sangiovese). Wine opened well with time although I fret that we finished the bottle well before its peak. Beautiful classic well aged brunello.

  • This wine is over the top. Terrible at first. Decanted for 3 hours poured back in bottle and tried next day. Drinkable but not at all enjoyable.

  • This is my 3rd bottle. The second bottle was an adventure - see previous note. This is now fully matured. Typical Brunello nose. On palate tannins have integrated and lots of complexity with cherries, dark red fruit and notes of leather. Medium to long finish.

  • The cork on this bottle disintegrated. Upon tasting it was spoiled. I put the bottle aside and we drank some other wine and just for yucks I tasted again 3 hours later. Drinkable and quite nice. Not sure what's going on here, certainly not the cork as they never recover. I bought 6 bottles of this with a friend and he pulled the corks on his 3 and tossed it all based on first taste. I would have to but happened to taste later. Not a classic brunello especially on the nose. A very musty, leathery nose, but very pleasant on the palate.

  • A gorgeous and balanced stunner. Aromas of earth and mushroom, with a core of dark berries and chocolate. Drank it for my birthday with friends (and two Tomahawk rib-eyes). We put it up against a 2007 Il Poggione and the younger Brun got slayed. Purchased at the Enoteca di Piazza in Montalcino on a trip I took there in December of 2012. The guy waived shipping if you bought stuff that you couldn't get in the states. So we built a case. So glad this bottle made it.
