Casual and Great Domaine Lafarge Tasting (Chez Winefool): Two bottles served from the same cellar. The first which was open for a few hours was stewy and off. The second which was pop n' pour was excellent. Mature, earthen red cherry aromas made bright by floral and spice accents. Love the round, plump and juicy fruit that has that ideal balance of freshness with earthen complexity. At peak and should hold for 5+ years.

Drinking Some Great Lafarge as an Hommage to Becky Wasserman (The Winefool - Chicago IL): Second of two bottles, this was popped-and-poured as a replacement for the tired/ stewed bottle, and this replacement was glorious. While this initially seemed on the mature side for 2002, it combined fresh fruit with slowly cooked/ reduced mushroom in wonderful combination with braised meat spice character. Some air was beneficial here, as the wine freshened up after 10-20 minutes in glass, and seemed to put on good weight. This is a wine that I've sadly experienced several damaged bottles through the years, but tonight's great bottle was the best I have ever tasted.

Difficult to be analytical.
It’s bloody lovely.
Promises at least 5 more years of being equally lovely, so no rush at all.
