Domestic Gewurtz is hard to pull off. A variety best in cooler climates, CA often produces over ripe, flabby, over floral examples. D-G as always does justice to the varietal.
A classic Gewurtz nose of honeysuckle, ripe stone fruit. In the mouth, a lush texture with notes of ripe pear, orange citrus, dance in the glass.
D-G has produced an amazing array of Alsatian wines this year, a stunning Riesling, great Pinot Blanc, and now this (sold out) Gewurtz. Great job demonstrating the breadth of Russian River Valley beyond Pinot Noir & Chardonnay!
