  • This was kept in my wife's family's cabin in the mountains (in a cupboard) for who knows how long before I acquired it in 2011. Been keeping it ever since, and decided to open up for a birthday dinner. Note is after 2 days of being open and following the wine, which showed absolutely no signs of fading over that time.

Cork came out in one piece and pours a nice medium amber color into the glass. The nose wafts up vibrant scents of vanilla, butterscotch and caramel atop a background of pear fruit. The palate is surprisingly fresh, with a great swath of acidity keeping the unctuous texture in check. There are notions of clove, orange rind and pear skin that come and go over time. Really impressive and captivating stuff.

  • This was one tasty little number. It showed complexity within a pleasantly sweet background. It definitely reminded me of a tab. I had little expectation that this bottle would be any good because it was purchased in an auction lot from a bankrupt local restaurant. I was surprised when the cork came out intact.

  • Purchased at the tasting room in '95, this has held up very well over the years despite its relative lightness. Color dark yellow, clear, no crystals evident. Nose of dried apricot, lemon, honey, spring flowers, and as it warmed up, a bit of white pepper spice to tickle the nose. A light bodied wine of mild complexity, but the apricot/marmalade/honey that is there is delicious, and there is still a nice level of acidity keeping it buoyant on the palate. Not too sweet or cloying. Sadly the nectar fades pretty quickly in the finish, which made us all drink faster to keep up the enjoyment. Overall we were impressed with the elegance of this, both in terms of the wine and the decorative floral bottle. A lovely accompaniment late on a summer night overlooking the ocean.
