Opened an hour before dinner and the fruit just explodes in your mouth, black cherry, layered with a bit of heat on the back end. Full bodied, nice tannic structure - just a terrific wine.

Served with steak and chimichura sauce. This big, bold wine cut through the steak like a knife. Dark fruit and earthiness, good tannic backbone and a long mouthwatering finish. Lots of fruit on the nose

Deep ruby color, slight bricking at the edge.Nose has a briny quality, with cherry fruit leather and a vegetative profile. Palate is primarily oyster/brine, lessening over time, with dark berry and fresh wood mulch. Parching tannins. Finish is medium long and well balanced.

I will not score this bottle as it had a very slight "cork" issue. As indication of the mildness of the flaw, it was only detected by 1 of 3 people tasting the wine. After an hour in the decanter, the somewhat heavy oakiness faded dramatically and the underlying fruit started to blossom. I detected just a hint of green pepper; at a level that draws interest rather than disdain. We found an excellent pairing with a goat cherve cheese, which was a big surprise to me.
