Good structure, but not much complexity. A nice drinker, but not all too memorable. Maybe I need to decant for awhile instead of PNP, as another review suggested. By no means a waste of money, and happy to drink my next three bottles for a good cause. Keep up the good work Porter Family. Bought while visiting the winery, which is a must if you haven't done so.
Edit: previous reviewer was right. This was far better on day 3. Some of the tartness went away and a bit of complexity ans smoothness was more apparent. If you're opening this wine, I highly recommend opening at least one day ahead of time. Preferably two. Score changed from 87 to 90.

This was the second release. Lots of dark fruit (black cherry, plum, cassis, blackberry), along with cedar, cigar box, and earth. High acidity, medium+ tannin, medium+ body and alcohol. Medium+ finish. Smooth, balanced, nice drink.

First release (with village scene on label)(2007 & 2008 blend). Aromas of blackberry, pomegranate, cinnamon stick, smokey, earthy. Drank this over four nights, and I keep coming back to raise the score. It needs lots of air, and was better each successive night. PNP results in a very harsh tasting wine. It needs an hour or more decant in order to round out and smooth out a bit. Not sure what the blend is (why are they so secretive about it?), but it doesn't quite come together smoothly until it's really gotten some air and is almost a bit flat. But even still, it's a very nice drinkable wine if you give it the time.
