12.3%. Popped and poured. Medium red with fading rim. High toned brambly fruit, with an overlay of dark chocolate / dark roasted coffee that dissipates after a while to uncover more nice fruity smells. Some chewiness / grip (tannins still perceptible) with a nice balance of acidity. Went well with baked salmon. Good for another five years based on this bottle. One left to go.

12.3%. Initial whiff of smoke and toasted oak, bright red berries, a faint green pepper/ leafy/ herbal note. Later, butterscotch, frangipane, more blueberry dark cherry pinot fruit notes. 25 sec finish. Nicely tart, muted tannins. Went well with (a) salmon with cafe de paris butter, and (b) grilled top blade with wild mushroom sauce. Very drinkable. The low alcohol makes this especially pleasant. Would buy again.

Fruit is fading. Initially still fragrant, but fades fast leaving mostly high toast oak and burnt coffee. Soft tannins.
