  • Fairly deep yellow hue at this point. Nose is of beurre et noisettes, which follow on the soft, rich and round palette, with more rich buttery than fruit flavor at this point. Surprisingly good for this level with this much age. I'd drink up.

  • Medium-deep lime-green color with a hint of lemony yellow hue. Fresh, crunchy yet somewhat concentrated nose with intense aromas of sweet golden apples, tart green apples, some ripe stone fruits, a little bit of steely minerality, a hint of creamy richness and a sappy touch of herbal character that reminds me a bit of the base wine for Cava. The wine is moderately full-bodied, concentrated and obviously pretty ripe on the palate with somewhat oily mouthfeel, yet the wine shows tremendous focus and freshness at the same time. There are ripe yet dry, fruit-driven flavors of red apples, steely minerality, some waxy tones, a little bit of creamy richness, a hint of stone fruits and a touch of savory wood spice. The high acidity lends wonderful intensity and sense of structure to the wine. The finish is ripe, fruity yet wonderfully acid-driven with flavors of sweet golden apples, wet gravelly minerality, some pithy lemon bitterness, a little bit of apple peel and a touch of white peach.

A wonderfully concentrated, youthful and structured white Burgundy with lots of power, freshness depth of flavor. The wine does not show any signs of age and it seems to show a lot of aging potential for a mere basic-level Bourgogne Blanc. In a tasting of Mikulski Bourgogne Chardonnay 2007-2012, this was the best vintage quite easily - although vintage 2008 was not far behind. All in all a great effort - while the others show great drinkability for immediate enjoyment, I'd leave this wine in a cellar at least for another 5 years, if not more. Impressive stuff, highly recommended.

  • Terrific wine for it's level, chock full of citrus and minerals and with really great texture to boot. It is a wine that you perhaps feel more than taste and all of the geological matter satisfies, cools and engages the drinker in a way that so many Bourgogne level wines don't.
