With K and Miranda at home at dinner (fusilli with gouda cheese sauce). Good ruby color. Rich, thick glycerine tears. Touch of rust at the rim. Nose has lots of plump fruit and an almost peppermint component. Palate has lots of plump, spicy fruit. Fat and glossy. Fleshpot. 5-10-15-7: 87/100.

Needs to be decanted at least an hour. Initially not much nose and tastes like wood and soul. Gradually opens up with smoke, leather, tobacco, and some subtle berries. Not much bordeaux funk as is typical for a wine this age.

Holding up beautifully. Solid red color, with the faintest hints of bricking at the rim of the glass. Beautiful nose of dried cherry, currant, earth, leather, and woodsy spice. In the mouth, caressing and elegant, with gorgeously delineated fruit, surrounded by layers of earthy complexity. A bit drying on the finish, but just a lovely, elegant wine. A-
